A couple of us recently took a trip to SA Militaire. Man what fun! I really recommend the SA Militaire, even if it is just to check out what the “other half” are doing. Once again, we saw the enormous chasm between the way the Flyboys and the Motorheads think. To give you an idea, we proudly present….
Flyboys are from Pluto – Motorheads are from Uranus
Flyboys bring their models into the competition hall in great big crates marked, “Incredibly Fragile – Touch This, You Die!”. Motorheads bring most of their models into the competition hall in their pockets.
Flyboys can be found wandering around in the competition hall muttering, “Wow, chekadis!” Motorheads can be found wandering around outside in the car park muttering, “Wow, chekadis!”
For Flyboys, Tom Cruise’s best movie was “Top Gun”. For Motorheads, Tom Cruise’s best movie was “Days of Thunder”.
Flyboys think that LeMans is French for “The Gents”. Motorheads think that Farnborough is a large field populated with cows.
Flyboys don’t understand the concept “chrome sprue”. Motorheads lie awake at night worrying about their “chrome sprues”.
For Flyboys, a “flameout” is a major catastrophe. For Motorheads, a “flameout” is ultra-cool!
Flyboys shun anything from Italy. Motorheads worship everything from Italy.
Flyboys use Impalas to train pilots. Motorheads use Impalas to pick up girls.
When you say the word “turbo….”, Flyboys automatically think “…..prop” while Motorheads automatically think “…..charger”.
Flyboys think that you can never have enough altitude. Motorheads think that you can never have enough attitude.
Flyboys know that North American Aviation manufactured the Mustang. Motorheads know that Ford Motor Company manufactured the Mustang.
To a Flyboy, the Immelmann Manoeuvre is used to outwit your adversary in a dogfight. To a Motorhead the Immelmann Manoeuvre is used when used when someone chokes on a piece of steak.
To a Flyboy, the B26 helped to take the USA to victory in the Pacific theatre in WWII. To a Motorhead, the B26 helped to take Mazda to victory in the 1991 LeMans 24 Hour!
Flyboys use matt paint on the outside of their models. Motorheads use matt paint on the inside of their models.
So, basically we are from different planets! Yeah, that has to be the reason!
Until next time….
Polish that chrome!
